Mitsubishi Electric launches new

      In recent years, with the popularization of mobile terminals such as smartphones and tablet computers and the cloudification of information, the amount of data communication is rapidly increasing, and the mobile communication systems in countries around the world are shifting from the fourth generation to the fifth generation. Therefore, DFB lasers installed in optical communication equipment in wireless base stations located outdoors must be able to provide ultra-high-speed and large-capacity performance and operate in a wide temperature range.

     In order to meet these needs, Mitsubishi Electric has developed a new 50Gbps*1DFB laser*2 this time, and started to provide its samples on March 4th. This product uses a new 50Gbps DFB laser chip with excellent frequency response characteristics suitable for the PAM4 modulation method.

     The 50Gbps DFB laser enables high-speed operation (50Gbps) over a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +90°C) and ensures specification compatibility for small optical transceivers*3. Compared with the previous 25Gbps products, the transmission speed of this product can reach 2 times, which will help to improve the speed and capacity of the fifth-generation mobile communication system (hereinafter referred to as 5G).
